Kentucky high school track and field athletes recorded several personal bests at meets during the week of April 20.
Jacob Hammonds (Ashland Blazer) threw 151-3 in the discus at the Alice Leigh Invitational on April 21, improving from his previous best of 117-0. The junior placed second among 24 competitors and ranks #14 in Kentucky and #6 among state juniors. Hammonds also set a personal record in the shot put, improving from 32-0 to 32-5.
Jordyn Shemwell (Todd County Central) ran 13.24 in the 100 meters at the Logan County HS All Comers meet on April 20, dropping from her previous mark of 13.82 set in April 2026. The sophomore finished second in a field of nine and ranks #134 in Kentucky and #29 among state sophomores.
Asonja Newcomb (Scott County) clocked 13.24 in the 100 meters at the Harrison County Invitational on April 25, improving from 13.78 set in March 2026. The sophomore placed fourth among 23 runners and ranks #134 in Kentucky and #29 among state sophomores. Newcomb also ran a personal best 27.92 in the 200 meters, improving from 29.16.
Tristian Joseph (South Laurel) ran 10:44.87 in the 3200 meters at the Williamsburg High School Limited All Comers meet on April 24, cutting his time from 11:58.24. The senior finished seventh among 17 competitors and ranks #142 in Kentucky.
Keyshaun Greene (Warren Central) ran 11.30 in the 100 meters at the Raider Classic on April 25, improving from 11.84 set in March 2026. The sophomore placed third among 26 runners and ranks #94 in Kentucky and #15 among state sophomores.
Annaya Layne (Franklin-Simpson) won the 100 meters in 13.09 at the Raider Classic on April 25, improving from 13.43. The junior topped a field of 21 runners and ranks #98 in Kentucky and #26 among state juniors.
