BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- This weekend the Bellarmine Knights Track team competed at the Hoosier Invitational at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. The Knights continued their success and ran well with individuals winning or placing in many events.

Sophomore sprinter Rachel Eyckmans (Villa Hills, KY), continued to rewrite the school records in the short sprint events, running an indoor school and personal best for 60 meter this past Saturday, February 5th, in Bloomington, IN, at Indiana University's Hoosier Invite.  Eyckmans won the 60 meter dash in 7.95, and came back to run another school and personal best of 26.22 in the 200 meters.

“Rachel has continued impressing all of us this winter, and is certainly making a mark both on the school records, and the Conference rankings,” offered first year women's sprint Coach Aaron McAndrew.  “Her 60 time may be better than her 7.38 (55m) last weekend……….we also knew she would give us a strong 200 as well, as soon as we got her on a 'faster” indoor oval.”

Fellow sophomore, Angela Musk (New Hope, KY), continued her improvement in the middle distance area, setting new bests for both the 800 meters and mile at the Indiana meet, marking the third straight weekend she has run “multiple” personal bests.  Musk recorded a 5:13.26 in the mile run to finish third behind junior teammate, Carissa Martin (5:13.20 - New Albany, IN), and came back to produce a 2:21.83 for 800 meters to get second in that event.

Fifth year senior thrower, Elliot Mattingly (Bardstown, KY), produced a near best 56-2 ½ in the 35lb Weight Throw, to inch near the NCAA Provisional standard for that event, and move him among the nation's top-25 indoor marks in that event this season.  He returned later in the meet to record a personal best 46-10 in the Shot Put as well.

Freshman sprint sensations, Damar Williams (Jackson, MI), and Meghan Jones (Greenville, IN), continued building on their first year successes.  Williams winning the 200 meters in a near freshman indoor school best 22.83, while Jones toppled the school indoor mark for 400 meters in winning that event (59.46).  Jones added strong efforts in both the High Jump (5-3/3rd), and 200 meters (27.08) as well.  Both Williams and Jones are among the Conference's top performers in multiple events!

Coach McAndrew's whole group continued to produce impressive efforts.  Sophomore sprinter, Elaine Kuntz (St. Charles, MO), only just recently returning to action following summer knee surgery, dominated her heat of the 200 meters, and equaled her indoor personal best (26.86).  Three other teammates chased Jones across the line in the 400 meters with personal indoor bests of their own.  Kristen Hamrick (60.77 - Cincinnati), Maddie Roark (61.16 - Flatwoods, KY), and Katie Mastronicola (61.16 - Indianapolis), produced third, and tie for fourth efforts in the two-lap long sprint event.  Sophomore Molly Culbertson (Mason, OH), added the team's top relay split in the 4x400 relay (60.6r), after posting a personal best for 600 meters earlier in the meet, running 1:40.41, good for second overall.

Senior, and two-time Conference Indoor champion, Joey Blue (Waverly, KY), was the second collegian overall in the 800 meters, running 1:57.57, with freshman middle distance star, Robert Sandlin (Frankfort, KY), following in 1:59.09.

Other performances of note, included:
·          Sophomore Sean Klosterman (Louisville) gaining an easy win in his heat of the 200 in a personal indoor best of 22.89, only hundredths off his teammate's winning mark
·         Upperclassmen, Corrie Reiter (18:59.91 - Louisville), and Lisa Miville (19:02.41 -  Georgetown, IN), running '2-3' in the 5000 meters
·         Third year, sophomore vaulter, Nicole Hess (Sellersburg, IN), winning the Pole Vault in a personal best 10-8, and just missing on her third attempt at a school record 11-1
·          Freshman Ben Kolb (Louisville) capturing a win in the 60 meter High Hurdles
·         Sophomore Thrower, Julia Zalewski (Cincinnati) claiming a runner-up finish in the Weight Throw for women
·         Second year middle distance runner, Maggie Wagner (Bloomington, IN), producing an indoor personal best of 2:22.73, good for fourth overall
