INDIANAPOLIS—Bellarmine University freshman track & field athlete Robert Sandlin, Jr. was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week as UIndy's Matt Royer earned Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

In his first event as a Knight, Sandlin picked up a first place victory in the 3000 meter run at the Little Giant Invitational this past weekend in Crawfordsville, Ind. His time of 8:38.07 won the race by nearly five seconds.

Bellarmine will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana on Saturday for the Engineer Invitational hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
