Men's cross country prepares for nationals

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine University men's cross country team is hoping to hit their stride this weekend as they will run in the NCAA Div.-II National Championship on Saturday morning at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.

The team is quite familar with the course as it will be the same one that they qualified for the championshipson by virtue of their third place finish in the Midwest Regional. The team was led by junior Jordan Parayil who finished 15th with a time of 31:56.39. Also placing for Bellarmine was Alex Jones (23rd), Nate Dotterweich (24th), Ben Draper (27th), Justin Smith (40th), Neal Masterson (46th), Robert Sandlin (54th).

The last time that Bellarmine competed in the cross country national championship was 1982 when current Bellarmine Head Coach Jim Vargo and All-American Ricky Miller paced the Knights to a seventh place finish.

The men's cross country championship is just one of six championship that will be crowned in Louisville this weekend as part of the Div-II Fall Festival that Bellarmine is hosting. Other championships include women's cross country, volleyball, field hockey, men's and women's soccer

The men's10K race is set to start at 11 a.m. at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
