KYtrackXC.com: Senior Interview Session II

 Jessie Murner - South Oldham

KY: Thoughts going into your last KY State Meet?
JM:
I’m excited of course. I think about the hard work Mr. Clark has put in with each of us, and about how much fun it is to run and race with such a talented group and I can't help but to look forward to seeing if we can win another State championship.

KY: South Oldham's girls are going for three straight team titles this weekend. How does it feel to have had so much success while you were in high school individually and as part of the team.
JM: It
feels great. The thing I will remember the most is the work we did as a team and having the chance to reap the rewards from that hard work.

KY: Favorite moment from this season?
JM: The socializing we do as a team outside of practice. Whether it is spaghetti dinners,
Friday movie nights or stopping at restaurants after races we always have fun.

KY: Are you going to run in college? If so, what schools are you looking at?

JM: Yes I will be running. I'm looking at a lot of schools but my top three would be Waynesburg University, Wittenberg University, and Tufts University.

Zac Holtkamp - Bishop Brossart

KY: What are your thoughts about your last KY State XC Meet this weekend?
ZH: I can't believe that this is the end. I've been doing this for 5 years now and it's going to feel weird knowing that this is it. That being said, I want to go out on top to end my career at Bishop Brossart. I'm not saying it will be easy, but it can be done.

KY: Favorite moment from this season?
ZH: It's hard to pick out one memory from this season. It's been a fun year. If I had to pick one, it would have to be our team's canoe trip this summer. I was paired up with teammate Michael Caldwell this year and we had a blast. At one point I remember laughing so hard that I couldn't swim. If I could relive one day from the season that would be it. Winning regionals is a close second. It always feels good to have your hard work pay off.

KY: Do you have plans to run next year, if so where?
ZH: I will be running somewhere next year. I'm just not sure where. I've been talking to NKU, Centre, Hanover, and Bellarmine. Those are the front runners so far. No pun intended.

KY: You took a huge jump this year as a runner, what changed?

ZH: My training actually hasn't changed that much. The biggest difference this year is my health. Last year, mono hit me after the first meet of the year. Then, shortly after that I had the Swine Flu. Fortunately, my case of mono wasn't severe and I made it back in time for state. This year is a different story though. I'm healthier, stronger, and ready to have a great time at state!

Cory Kleinjan - Spencer County

KY: What are your thoughts about your last KY State XC Meet this weekend?
CK: I think the last meet was good, hoping to do a lot better at state though

KY: Favorite moment from this season?
CK: My favorite moment of this season was probably running against my old teammate Sam Meredith again.

KY: What are your plans as far as running in college go?
CK: I'm going to the University of Cumberlands to run in college.
