Men's cross country finishes 4th at Gibson meet

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.--The No. 24 Bellarmine University men's cross country team turned in a solid fourth place finish at the 13-team field of the  Gibson Family Cross Country Invitational co-hosted by DePauw and Rose-Hulman.

Running without several of their top runners, senior Ben Draper stepped up to lead the Knights finishing sixth overall with a time of 27:02.3 on the 8,000-meter course.  Other top 25 finishers for Bellarmine included Neal Masterson (12th, 27:18.1) and Pete Casa (24th, 27:42.6).

DePauw took the team title with just 38 points, while Michael Sexton of Berry University took the individual crown with a time of 26:14.8.

The Knights travel to Kenosha, Wisc., on Saturday, Oct. 16 to compete in the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational.  The meet will serve as preview of the GLVC Championship, which will be held on the same course on Nov. 6.
