INDIANAPOLIS - Northern Kentucky University's Joey Mueller has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week in men's cross country, the league office announced Tuesday.

Mueller, a sophomore and a graduate of Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati, led the Norse to an eighth-place finish out of 30 teams at the Memphis Twilight Classic on Saturday.

Mueller's efforts helped NKU finish with a team score of 285. He finished the eight-kilometer race with a time of 25:18, which was good for 32nd place. Mueller's time was his personal best, an improvement of more than 90 seconds from his best eight-kilometer last year. His time also marked the third-fastest eight-kilometer run in NKU history.

The Norse will next compete on Oct. 2 at the Greater Louisville Classic.
