BOWLING GREEN , Ky. - The Morehead State men's and women's cross country teams took their talents to the second team meet of the season Saturday, the 29th Annual Old Timers Classic.
Strong performances by both
James Bowens and
Ron Duncan on the men's side, and
Liz Braunwart on the women's side show why Coach Tommy Barksdale is confident in his team's improvement.
"I thought the conditions were tough today, along with this being one of the harder courses we will run all season, however, I think we ran strong today overall," said Barksdale. "We still have some things we need to work on, and I think we all see that. In addition, this meet gave us a great opportunity to see how we matched up against a few conference teams."
Eagle junior
Bowens finished with an impressive time of 26:57 in the men's 8K, just ahead of fellow teammate
Duncan, who crossed the finish line in 27:14.
On the women's side, Eagle sophomore
Braunwart completed the course in a solid 20:43, while
Kate Bomar clocked in at 21:11.
For the men,
Josh Wakeman finished next, followed by
Michael Settles,
Alexx Bernard,
Chase Ratliff, Jeffrey Covington,
Andy Bailey, and
Jordan Laws.
The women's finishes for MSU, following Braunwart and Bomar, were
Parker Winters,
Amanda Faust,
