Men's track & field add talented class

8/9/2010 9:02:31 AM

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Bellarmine University and coach Jim Vargo have added a stellar group of track & field athletes for the upcoming season.  The men will add 12 incoming freshman to the roster that will return virtually everyone from last year's squad. Last year the men's team finished 5th in the conference for the indoor season, and 4th for the outdoor season.

We're very pleased with our additions for this coming season," said Coach Vargo.  "All our signees were very accomplished HS performers, several may well be factors in our Conference right away.”

The 2010-11 team will be led by junior Nate Dotterweich who qualified for the NCAA championships last year in the steeplechase. Dotterweich forms a strong nucleus to go with All-GLVC performers Frank Wathen, Joey Blue, and Josh Farmer. Vargo believes that mixing the incoming talent with veteran leadership will result in a great season.  “We return nearly everyone off a large '09-'10 roster, adding them to an already very deep returning group, we can't be anything but excited about the coming year as well as the future of the program in general."
