INDIANAPOLIS-The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced Bellarmine University as the winner of the SAAC Overall Sportsmanship Award at the 2010 Enterprise Rent-A-Car Spring Awards Banquet held in St. Louis, Mo. on May 25. Bellarmine was chosen by its peers as the institution best demonstrating “Good Sportsmanship” during the 2009-2010 academic year.

The SAAC Overall Sportsmanship Award is determined by the institution receiving the most points at the end of the academic year based on the results of the SAAC Team Sportsmanship Awards.

The Knights earned five team sportsmanship awards throughout the year. The men's outdoor track and field team and men's and women's cross country teams, all coached by Jim Vargo, were honored for representing sportsmanship throughout their seasons. Also being honored for team sportsmanship was the men's tennis team, coached by Toddy Murphy, and the women's tennis team, led by John Mican.

This marks the first year Bellarmine has been awarded the SAAC Overall Sportsmanship Award. Northern Kentucky claimed the inaugural award in 2007-08 and UW-Parkside earned the overall award in 2008-09.
