INDIANAPOLIS--The Great Lakes Valley Conference has released the 2010 All-Conference Team and Bellarmine University is well represented. Junior
Cristin Samuels (Louisville, Ky, Eastern) leads five other Bellarmine athletes after being named to the All-GLVC first team.
Samuels, a distance runner, ran the 3000 meter steeplechase along with the 3000 and 5000 meter races at the recent GLVC Championship. In the 5000 meters, Samuels edged out Lewis's Amy Clawson to take first place with a time of 18:05.89. She also placed fourth in the steeplechase.
The All-GLVC second team displays the a number of talented Bellarmine underclassmeny: freshmen Erin Dwenger (Indianapolis, IN, Lawrence North High School), Julia Zalewski (Cincinnati, Ind., St. Ursula Academy), and Hayden Kelley (Owensboro, KY, Owensboro Senior High School); sophomores Alicia Dupilka (Greensburg, PA, Hempfield Area Senior High Schoo) and Nicole Hess (Sellersburg, IN, Silver Creek High School); and Junior Camila Aramburu (Louisville, KY, Eastern H.S.),who holds the school record holder in the 400 meter high hurdles.
The women's team finished third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship and Coach Jim Vargo expects the team to be even better next year.
