Eagle Tracksters Set For 2010 Track & Field Championships At Tennessee Tech

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Morehead State track and field team will be in action at the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Cookeville, Tenn., on Friday April 30. The events start with the high jump at 1:00 p.m. and the running events starting at 2:15 p.m. The meet resumes Saturday with the official Opening Ceremony at 8:45 a.m.

Running and jumping events will be held in Tech's Tucker Stadium, while the throwing events (discus, javelin, hammer and shot put) will take place on the field adjacent to the Tech softball field.

On the men’s side, Michael Settles (9:56.00) and Ron Duncan (10:15.40) look to compete for a title in the 3,000 meter steeplechase coming into the race both in the top five seeds. Josh Wakeman is competing in the 10,000 meter run, two years ago Wakeman finished second in the race.

In the throws JT Stone is ranked second in the shot put with a season best throw of 16.10 meters and ranked fifth in the discus with a season best hurl of 43.19 meters.

On the women’s side Bree Massie and Tara Henry will be competing in the sprint events for the Eagles. Henry will be competing in the 100 and 200 and Massie will also be in the 200. Amanda Faust ( 2:36.84), Holly Mandzak (NT), and Natalie Norman (2:28.33) will be all competing for some crucial points in the 800 open run.
