Track is starting heat up in the state of Kentucky as there were many top performances this past week.

Boys Sprinter

Marcus Winstead, senior from Owensboro opened up his Outdoor Season strong winning the 100m Dash at the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green.  The 2010 KYtrackXC.com Indoor Runner of the Year blazed the track with a new best of 10.77.

 

Girls Sprinter

Chelsea Harnack, senior from Model won the 300m Hurdles and 200m Dash at the Tates Creek Commodore Classic on Saturday.  Her winning time of 26.00 in the 200m Dash was a new best personal best.  She currently leads Class A in Kentucky in both events.

 

 

Boys Distance

Matt Hillenbrand, senior from St. Xavier ran a big PR in the 1600m Saturday at the Mountain Brook Invitational in Alabama.  He finished second overall with a time of 4:23.06.  He also helped St. Xavier run a current Kentucky #1 time of 8:07.33 in the 3200m Relay. 

 

Girls Distance

Anna Bostrom, senior from Woodford County lit the track on fire at the Invitational of the South.  She dominated the competition to win the 1600m and 3200m Runs.  She won the 1600m in a personal best time of 4:58.65, dipping below the five minute mark for the first time.  She then came back and lapped the entire field to win the 3200m in 10:56.88, very close to her best time.   She is currently ranked #1 in the 3200m Run.

 

 

Boys Field Event

Kyle Jenkins, senior from Male High School won both the Shot Put and Discus at the Mountain Brook Invitational in Alabama Saturday.  He launched two bombs in each nearly missing PR’s in both.  His winning throws of 55-09 and 170-03 both currently lead Kentucky.

 

Girls Field Event

Ashley Woolum, sophomore from North Laurel won three events at the Clay County All-Comers last week.  She set a new best in the Triple Jump with a leap of 36-00 which ranks her third in Class AAA.  She also won the Long Jump and 100m Hurdles.
