Eagle Tracksters Kick Off 2010 Outdoor Season at Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Morehead State track and field team kicked off the 2010 outdoor season in Cincinnati, Ohio at the University of Cincinnati, in the Early Bird Relays at Gettler Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The scoring in the Early Bird Relays differs from other events. In order to earn first-place points, a team has to have the best combined time or mark from two of its own athletes. The next team with the best combined time or mark earns second-place points and it continues throughout.

On the men’s side Josh Wakeman finished third in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:00.80 and Brian Knight crossed the line in a time of 4:17.99 to get four points for MSU.

Patrick Fouch and Brian Knight scored three points for the Eagles in the 800 meter run. Fouch finished in 19th clocking a time of 2:04.59 and Knight finished in 20th with a time of 2:04.70.

Sean Blair leaped 6.30 meters in the long jump for a seventh place finish for two Eagle points.

JT Stone did well in the throws; Stone recorded a throw of 14.73 meters in the shot put for sixth place and a throw of 41.90 meters in the discus for 7th place.

In the women’s events, Natalie Norman and Rudy Millard picked up one point in the 800 meter run. Norman ran a time of 2:34.55 for 26th and Millard finished with a time of 2:34.56 for 27th place.

Millard and Elizabeth Braunwart recorded one point in the 5000 meter run finishing with times of 19:08.74 (20th) and 20:21.36 (33rd) respectively.

The Eagle tracksters will be in action again on April 3 at the University of Cincinnati.
