Athletes of the Week: 2002 Outdoors Week #7

Athletes of the week for the week ending on May 4, 2002, are Sherrod Lewis of Patrick Henry and Shylan Bumbrey of James Monroe. Lewis had an amazing triple win at the Caroline Invitational, while Bumbrey ran only one race at the T.C. Williams Invitational, but it was a good one.

Lewis was a class above the rest at the Caroline Invitational as he was untouchable in the sprints. Lewis ran 3 races at Caroline (5 if you include his 100 and 200 prelims) and he won them all in dominating fashion with times of 10.97 in the 100 meter dash, 21.99 in the 200 meter dash, and 50.46 in the 400 meter dash.

While Bumbrey didn\'t triple like Lewis did and in fact only did one race at the T.C. Williams, it was one incredible run. She won the 800 meter run in an exciting race over Centreville\'s Dacia Barr in a scorching time of 2:13.91. What makes the run incredible is that Bumbrey is only a freshmen!
