Women's track 4th, men's 6th after day 1 at GLVC meet

KENOSHA, Wisc.--The Bellarmine University indoor track teams began competition in the 2-day Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships today.  The the women accumulated 25 points to settle into fourth place, while the men tallied 19 points on the day and sit in sixth place.

The day for the women was highlighted by a victory in the distance medley relay by Lindsay Boyce, Kelsey Love, Molly Culbertson and Carissa Martin.  Other top finishers for the Knights included the 4x200 relay team of Rachel Eyckmans, Katherine Mastronicola, Elaine Kuntz, Katie Neiser (3rd place) and Julia Zalewski, who took fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.06 meters.

The men also placed well in the distance medley relay (Nathan Dotterweich, Joseph Kiefer, Joe Mallek, Alex Jones) and the 4x200 relay (William Saucer, Dominique McGinnis, Jeremy Fugate, Jesse Shelton), finishing fourth and fifth respecitively to gain nine points for the team.  Ben Draper and Guy Vandermosten also registered points for the Knights with their sixth and seventh place finishes in the 5,000-meter run.

The meet concludes tomorrow, with the first event scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
