Bellarmine to Host GLVC Cross Country Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Bellarmine Cross Country teams will be hosting the GLVC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 24 at E.P Tom Sawyer Park in eastern Jefferson County.  The women will start the meet running a six kilometer race at 10 a.m., the men will follow with an eight kilometer race beginning a 10:45 a.m.

The favorites for the women's race are Mary Ballinger (Southern Indiana), Kathryn Hague (Lewis) and Amanda Porter (Lewis). Ballinger and Hague both received GLVC's women's runner of the week earlier this season.  

Carissa Martin (New Albany, Ind./New Albany) from Bellarmine is hoping to continue her hot streak. She has recorded the third fastest five kilometer time (18:55) for the 2009 season earlier this year for women at the National Catholic Meet.   

On the men's side, the favorites include Brendan Devine (Southern Indiana), Jordan Parayil (Bellarmine), and Dustin Emerick (Southern Indiana). Parayil has finished in the top-half of all the meets he has run in this year.
