Women's cross country takes runner-up finish at GLVC Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--Bellarmine University scored its highest ever finish at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Cross Country Championship finishing second today at the meet held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park.  The Knights were paced by Carissa Martin and Cristin Samuels who both had top 10 finishes and earned All-GLVC honors.

Southern Indiana won the event and had the individual champion, as the Screaming Eagles' Mary Ballinger earned GLVC "Runner of the Year" honors with her six kilometer time of 21:46.29.  

Martin finished 7th overall with her time of 22:59.43, and Samuels was 10th with a time of 23:07.92. Bellarmine's Lindsay Boyce finished 16th overall--just one spot away from earning all conference honors--as a total of seven Knights finished in the top 30.

Bellarmine now gears up for the NCAA Regionals to be held Nov. 7 in Kenosha, Wisc.
