10/29/2009 3:48:52 PM

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Bellarmine Women's Cross Country Team earned the No. 25 position in this week's Division II Cross Country National Rankings.  The poll was released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday.

The Knights also moved to No. 5 in the Midwest Regional rankings, the second highest Great Lakes Valley Conference school on the list, trailing No. 2 Southern Indiana.

Bellarmine finished in second place at last weekend's GLVC Cross Country Championship, held in Louisville.  It was the school's highest ever finish at the event.  Carissa Martin and Cristin Samuels both earned top 10 finishes in the individual competition.

Bellarmine's next competition will be at the Nov. 7 NCAA Regionals.  That event will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisc.
