RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University junior Wesley Ruttoh will run at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Monday, Nov. 23, at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind. The men’s race is set to begin at 12:08 p.m. ET and it will be broadcast live on the VERSUS channel.

Ruttoh earned an at-large bid to the championships after placing second at the Southeast Regionals two weeks ago, covering the 10K course at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park in a time of 30:04.46.

The Bomet, Kenya native is the first Colonel to run at the national championships since Jacob Korir and Joseph Maina did so in 2007.

Ruttoh, a transfer from Butler Community College (the same college that produced Maina), was named the 2009 OVC Male Cross Country Runner of the Year after winning the OVC Championships with a time of 25:39.24 and leading the men’s team to its fourth consecutive conference title.

He is the OVC’s lone representative at the championships.

Oregon has won the last two men’s championships; however, Stanford is ranked first in the country heading into Monday’s race.

Liberty’s Sam Chelanga, the only runner to beat Ruttoh at the Southeast Regionals, finished second behind Oregon’s Galen Rupp at the 2008 national championships and will enter Monday’s race as the top returner.
