Weekend Wrap Up: Trinity/Valkyrie in the Books

Weekend Wrap Up

The headline meet of the weekend was undoubtedly the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational at the always exciting EP Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville. Teams from all across the region made the trip while some of the top talent in the state traveled out as well.

Trinity Valkyrie always boasts itself as the biggest meet in the state and this year they brought out some heavy hitters. Two Ohio talents grabbed the top two spots in the boys race with Johan Meyer from Mason and Bryce Conley from Tippecanoe. The first Kentucky finisher was DK Schnieders from Louisville Holy Cross after taking a few weeks off running a smooth 15:46. Another performance I'd like to point out was from Levi Streeval running the best he's run in his life with a 15:49 just a spot behind Schnieders. The impressive sophomore out of Frederick Douglass has been improving a crazy amount this year looking to make a huge leap into the top 5 in the state.

Week after week the boys of Trinity widen the gap between themselves and rival St. Xavier. This week may have been their most impressive jump. Led by senior Nick Lewis' 5th place effort, the Trinity boys finished 3rd at their home meet while the Tigers of St. Xavier finished 8th in the team battle.

Trinity/Valkyrie Girls Seeded 5k

Kentucky's border states brought some firepower in the girls seeded race as well the order went Indiana (Annalyssa Crain), Tennessee (Leigh Walters), Ohio (Juliette Keller), Indiana (Sydney Liddle), Kentucky (Ashlyn Liddle).

Earlier this year, Ashlyn was able to beat out her counterpart (and cousin) Sydney from Floyd Central at Tiger Run. This time Sydney cam away with the bragging rights finishing 11 seconds ahead of Ashlyn. In her 5th place effort she secured a new season best by a considerable margin.

The star freshman for duPont Manual, Jessica Secor, came away as the second KY finisher in 7th breaking 19 for the first time ever! Behind her came the CAL duo of Addi Dewey and Kaylee Wilson in 11th and 14th resepectively with Maggie Aydt splitting them up in 12th.

With duPont Manual in the race it may be obvious but they were the top Kentucky team led by the before mentioned Jessica Secor. Behind them came CAL with Dewey and Wilson leading them through the line as they brought their girls home in 8th place.
