Del'Mario Hairston Chooses Kent State University


Ohio's best horizontal jumper, Del'Mario Hairston has confirmed where he'll be continuing his academic and athletic careers as a college freshman. During a ceremony at Lake Catholic High School on Friday afternoon, Hairston indicated that he'll be attending Kent State University in the fall.

Hairston will be an excellent addition to the Golden Flashes program, as he's just coming off Division 1 State Championship wins in both the long jump and triple jump events. His impressive indoor PR's stand at 23-8 and 47-6.5, respectively. During outdoor competition, he's leaped 24-5.5 in the long jump.

While the jumping events are considered to be his forte, Hairston also competes in a variety of sprints, where he's clocked 7.03 in the 60 and 49.46 in the 400 (outdoor). Hairston has a wealth of big meet experience, which includes trips to New Balance Nationals, the MileSplit / SPIRE Scholastic Showcase and the AAU Junior Olympic Games
