In an effort to honor the top track and field performers from Kentucky, KYtrackXC.com will have a weekly set of Athletes of the Week. There will be Middle School, High School, and College awardees. FormerKentuckyHigh School Track and Field athletes currently running in college are eligible for the College award, even if he or she attends a school out-of-state.
Allin, a senior at Henry Clay in Lexington vaulted to a new “official” career-best Saturday at Dunbar Bulldog/Bearcat Invitationalwith a mark of 11-09.That vault broke the Meet Record.She also won the Triple Jump with a jump of 33-03.Leigh will continue her career at Virginia Tech next year.
Washington, a junior at LoganCounty in Russellville won four events at the Great Gator Invitational Saturday.He set two new career best, one in the 200m Dash with a 22.54 and the other in the 400m Dash 51.04.He currently leads the entire state of Kentucky in the Long Jump at 22-05 and Triple Jump 47-07.
Crawford, a 2006 OwensboroHigh School graduate won two Ohio Valley Conference titles this past weekend in the 800m Run and 1500m Run.She ran a 2:13.71 and 4:31.97.She was named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Year and the Conference Female Athlete of the Championship.
Samuels, a 2006 EasternHigh School graduate won the 5000m Run title at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship this past weekend.Her winning time of 18:08.68 was a new career best.This marks a minute and half improvement from her high school days where she had a best time of 19:44.
Harris, a 2007 CampbellCounty graduate won his first career Conference title in the 5000m Run at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship.He crossed the line with a new career best time of 14:50.02.
