KYtrackXC.com Athletes of the Week

In an effort to honor the top track and field performers from Kentucky, KYtrackXC.com will have a weekly set of Athletes of the Week.  There will be Middle School, High School, and College awardees.  Former Kentucky High School Track and Field athletes currently running in college are eligible for the College award, even if he or she attends a school out-of-state. 

 

High School

 

Girls 

Sarah McKinneyRockcastle County

McKinney, a senior at Rockcastle County won the 55m Hurdles at the KTCCCA Indoor Meet  with MileSplit National Elite time of 9.15.  She also ran on the winning 1600m Relay team.

 

Boys

Bobby Harrison

Bullitt East

Harrison, a senior at Bullitt East High School  won the 55 Meter Dash at the KTCCCA Indoor Meet  in Maysville.  His time of 6.71 hit the MileSplit US National Elite Standard.  He also placed second in the Long Jump with a leap of 19-04.

Girls

Sierra McDaniel

Mason County Middle School

 

McDaniel, a seventh grader running for Mason County won the 55 Meter Dash in only her second track meet ever.  She won with a time of 7.86 at the KTCCCA Indoor Meet .  She won the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:11.02.  Her 55 Meter Dash is currently #1 for the Kentucky 2009 Middle School Indoor Season. 

 

Boys

Niko Carter

Tichenor Middle School

Carter, an eighth grader running for Lloyd Memorial won the 55 Meter Dash in 7.33 and the 400 Meter Dash in 1:03.07 Saturday at the KTCCCA Indoor Meet.  Both times currently rank him #2 in Kentucky for the 2009 Middle School Indoor Season.

Taylor Crawford

Murray State University

This 2006 Owensboro graduate won two Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Titles Saturday.  She won the One Mile Run with a personal best time of 5:04.15 and the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:16.20.  She was named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Indoor Runner of the Year.

Brian Soverns

Western Kentucky University

 

This 2006 Grayson County graduate won two events, Shot Put and Weight Throw at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships Saturday.  His toss of 57-03 in the Shot Put was a career best.  He threw 59-04.50 in the Weight Throw.
