KYtrackXC.com Athletes of the Week

In an effort to honor the top track and field performers from Kentucky, KYtrackXC.com will have a weekly set of Athletes of the Week.  There will be Middle School, High School, and College awardees.  Former Kentucky High School Track and Field athletes currently running in college are eligible for the College award, even if he or she attends a school out-of-state. 

 

High School

Girls 

Emme McAtee, Allison Riedling, Sara Davis, and Amy Stamon

The ladies of the Derby City Athletic Club competed in the USA Cross Country Championships in Derwood, Maryland.  Sara Davis led the team with a 44th place finish in 24:09, Allison Riedling was 47th in 24:21, Emme McAtee was 49th in 24:35, Amy Stamon rounded out the four at 56th in 25:25.  This was each of their first times racing at 6,000 Meters.

Boys

Cameron FrazierDaviess County High School

Frazier, a senior, is the defending Class AAA State Shot Put Champion with a toss 54-11.50.  He opened his senior campaign Saturday at Henderson County with a new personal best throw of 55-00 outdistancing the nearest competitor by over seven feet.

 

Middle School

Girls

Alyssa AllenRockcastle County

Allen, a seventh grader, at Rockcastle County finished 1st in the High Jump (3-00), 2nd in the Long Jump (12-03), and 3rd in the 55m Hurdles (10.73) at the KTCCCA Indoor Meet Saturday in Maysville.

Boys

Stephen ThomasOwsley County

Thomas, an eighth grader, at Owsley County won the Shot Put at the KTCCCA Indoor Meet in Maysville with a toss of 31-08.

 

College

Women

Alexandria PayneKentucky State University

This Danville graduate finished 2nd in the 200m Dash at the Hoosier Invitational Saturday in Bloomington.  Her time of 26.53 was her best this indoor season.  She finished fourth overall in the 60m Dash with a time of 7.98.

Men

Patrick MorganFurman University

This Boyle County graduate won the Bill Lee Mile at the Rod McCravy Invitational in Lexington in a school record time of 4:05.90.  Two weeks earlier he ran a personal best time of 8:23.11 in the 3000 Meter Run at the UNC Classic.

Chaz Dial – Culver-Stockton

This Fulton County graduate won the Long Jump at the Dr. Jim Green Invitational with a personal best leap of 23-04.  This is a two feet improvement from when he was in high school, this currently ranks him 3rd nationally in NAIA.
