Melissa Hurd and Candace Barbee to Sign with Western Kentucky University

Melissa Hurd (Paul Dunbar) and Candace Barbee (Edmonson County) have both agreed to run next season at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. 

 

Melissa Hurd, senior at Paul Dunbar High School in Lexington just started running cross country during her junior year and finishing her high school career with much success.  She was selected part of the 2008 KTCCCA Class AAA 2^nd Team All-State and All-Senior Team.  She ran a career best of 19:23.79 placing fourth at the KTCCCA Meet of Champions on November 1, 2008.

 

Candace Barbee, senior at Edmonson County High School in Brownsville won the 2007 Kentucky Class AA State Title in the 800 Meter Run with a 2:23.85.  She has won Class AA Region 2 Titles in the 800 Meter Run and 400 Meter Dash.  This November, she finished her high school cross country career finishing 38^th at the 2008 Kentucky State Class AA Meet.
