Sophomore Kate Rhodes returns to defend Daviess County team title.

Daviess County won their first girls title since 1999 last fall with two Freshmen, a Sophomore, and two Juniors. For those who know how high school works, that means they return every scorer from last year. Led by rising Sophomores Karlee Hoffman and Kate Rhoads, the Panthers enter the season with a big target on their backs.

2015's state runner up, Kathleen Simms, looks to improve on a very successful year.

Their top competition will likely come from Sacred Heart Academy, led by returning runner-up Kathleen Simms, duPont Manual, led by defending state champion and the 1600/3200 champion Alena Sapienza-Wright, and last year's runner up team Male. Individually, 9 of the top 10 and 13 of the top 15 from last year's state meet return. After her dominating sophomore year, Sapienza-Wright has to be the favorite to with the likes of Kaitlyn Lacy of Male, Simms of SHA, and Madisyn Peeples of Bowling Green surely looking to dethrone her.
