KTCCCA Adds 8 Athletes to Hall of Fame from St. Henry, Bourbon County, Shelby County, Tilghman, Valley, Bath County, & Boyd County

PAM RAGLIN - Bourbon County

Pam Raglin was without a doubt one of the finest athletes to ever come out of Paris, Kentucky.  Her high school career started at Bourbon County High School and it was in 1979 that she scored her first point in the KHSAA State Track and Field Championships with 5th place finish in the 440 Yard Dash as an 8th grader.  Under the watchful eye of KTCCCA Hall of Fame Coach Duane Steward turned into a 5 time State Track and Field Individual Champion.  In 1983 she put on one of the all time outstanding performance of any female before or since . . .

While running Cross-Country for Bourbon County she ran in the KHSAA State Meet 4 times and had 2 fourth place finishes, one second place finish and was the 1982 Class AA State Cross-Country Champion.

After a sterling high school career she moved south where she was locked horns with two more KTCCCA Hall of Fame Coaches at Eastern Kentucky University.  Coaches Erdman and Moore wasted no time in sending this young middle distance runner on to a sparkling collegiate career.  After her distinguished high school career she went on to become one of the finest middle distance runners in the nation. o 13 time Ohio Valley Conference Track and Field Champion in races from 800 through 5,000 Meters, indoors or outdoors as well as the OVC Cross Country Runner of the Year in 1986.

o NCAA Track and Field All-American

o 1984 and 1985 OVC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year

o In 1986 she ran a 2:07.71 800 Meters that 28 years later still stands as the best 800 Meters ever run by an EKU athlete.

o In a school that has numerous All American Distance Runners her time of 4:41.84 in the 1500 Meters still stands as a school record at EKU.

She continued her stellar running career after leaving EKU by qualifying for the 1988 United States Olympic Trials in the 1500 Meter run.

Awards are nothing new to this young lady as she was inducted into the Kentucky High School Athletic Associations Hall of  Fame in 1998 and then into the Eastern Kentucky University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.  Success followed her into a short coaching career where in 1998 she led Western Hills High School to the Class AA KHSAA State Girls Cross Country Championship.  In a short high school coaching career she coached six teams that finished in the top 10 at the Kentucky State Meet.  Had 7 Individual State Champions and was the 1998 Kentucky Cross Country Coach of the Year.
