Varsity Girls Team Preview

The biggest team of note is Carmel out of Indiana.  The ladies of Carmel won the Brown County Invitational last week without their top three runners.  They won the Mason OH Invitational the week before.  They come in ranked #6 in the MileSplit National Top 25.  This team is loaded with six girls already running sub 18:53 with number seven close behind at 19:02.  The crew is very familiar with the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational winning it multiple times over the last few years.  They have a 1-4 gap of 5 seconds.  Five seconds, that is crazy (18:18, 18:23, 18:23, 18:23.)  Look for the gold and blue to be up front and be packed together as they roll.

The host school, Sacred Heart Academy comes in ranked #1 in Kentucky.  The team is led by seniors Maggie Allen and Samantha Simms.  Allen won the Brown County Invitational last week with a 18:13, but potentially a more impressive showing was from frosh Kathleen Simms.  She ran a 18:27 in just her second high school race ever.  This team will try to cement themselves as the top team in Kentucky and maybe get into the discussion in the southeast.

The Valkyries will be chased by in-state foe Assumption as well.  Assumption has been a consistent threat to win over the last four seasons as they have become the top team in the southeast, winning the Nike Cross Regional the last two years.  Assumption brings a new group to the course led by Sarah Crawford and Abbie Wright.

Morristown-West out of Tennessee comes in with two girls that should be near the front in Makenzie Jones and Chantal Wilson.  Both have gone sub 18:36 already this season.

Ohio brings in a crew led by Division 1 #1 Centerville.  Centerville will have a contender for the win in Lainey Studebaker.  The crew won the Tiffin Invitational two weeks ago.  Also out of Division 1 in Ohio is Mason #3 and Hillard Davidson #5.  Georgia's Marist comes in as the top team in Georgia in the last set of GA. MileSplit.com All-Class Team Rankings.

There are a number of top teams from Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana, Virginia, and Georgia in attendance, so watch out because even finishing Top 20 here means something.

Varsity Boys Team Preview

The best in Kentucky in a stacked field of teams from Indiana, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio, and Virginia is a recipe for great performances.

Saturday the host school Trinity #3 in Class AAA Kentucky will try and finish Top 10 in their own meet which would be quite a task with this loaded field.

Indiana brings in #1 West Lafayette, #4 Carmel, and #5 Brebeuf to challenge KY AAA #1 St. Xavier (Lou.), #2 Cooper, #3 Trinity, and AA #1 North Oldham just to name a few.  Ohio is bringing to the table #1 St. Xavier (Cin.), Hillard Davidson #3,  and Mason #8.  Virginia's Lake Braddock is traveling to Louisville ranked #3 in the state.  Tennessee brings in #1 - 4 in the automated team rankings.  (#1 Daniel Boone, # 2 Brentwood High, #3 Ravenwood, and #4 Brentwood Academy)

With so many top five schools in one spot and on a fast course, watch out.
