Kahleifeh and Canterna Named All-Academic for the Nation at UK along with 9 others

 

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Eleven Kentucky track and field Wildcats, four men and seven women, were named All-Academic honorees by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2014 season. 
 
The academic honors added to one of the best seasons in UK track and field history as the women's team earned its highest finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships ever (seventh) in addition to the highest NCAA Indoor Championships team score in school history.
 
The men's team earned its fourth highest NCAA placement ever, and its sixth highest SEC Outdoor finish ever.
 
Four men -- Nathan Donnellon, Raymond Dykstra, Adam Kahleifeh and Mackay Wilson -- earned the honor.
 
Seven women -- Chelsea Oswald, Allison Peare, Michelle Canterna, Dezerea Bryant, Kendra Harrison, Angelica Whaley and Cally Macumber -- were also named All-Academic honorees.
 
Including the Scholar Athletes of the Year, a total of 727 women from 193 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
 
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
 
A student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
 
A total of 496 men from 165 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
 
For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
