What was your most memorable meet or race?
My most memorable race would have to be the time I was running at regionals in Green County and my coach yelled at me as I was running my last hill and told me if I finished in my spot I'd go to state. And I did.
Out of all your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?
I was awarded the S.C.O.R.E.S award. (South Central Outstanding Regional Excellence in Sports) for always trying to hardest. It was called The Extra Mile award.
If you could do it all over again, is there anything you would change?
I definitely would've tried harder. But I have no regrets. I've achieved a lot more than I ever thought I would.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
Running and keeping my grades up was difficult. And having to adjust to two new coaches.
What will you miss the most?
I was the team captain of Track and Cross Country. I was always the leader. I'm going to miss being an inspiration to my younger runners. I'm going to miss our silly conversations we all had on our way to the meets. I'm going to miss it all.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
My 13 year old brother is going to run his first year of cross country in the fall. The advice I'd give him is no sport is an easy sport unless you make it one. Giving up on it just proves that the sport beat you, you didn't overcome the sport.
What are your college/career plans?
I'm attending Lindsey Wilson and majoring in either Nursing or Human Services.
Who would you like to thank?
My coaches and teammates. I'd want to thank my coaches because they supported me all these years. They never gave up on me even when I gave up on myself. I want to thank my teammates for becoming more than my teammates, for becoming my family. I'll never forget them.
