What was your most memorable meet or race?

I was blessed to have a lot of great races over the course of my career. I had several duels that were won by a second or less and I had several dominating wins, but I would have to say the most memorable meet would be track state 2014. I had tons of friends and family there cheering me on and everything went perfectly. It was a great way to end my high school career.

Out of all your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?

Receiving Academic All-State for all of my XC and Track seasons was a big accomplishment in my opinion.

If you could do it all over again, is there anything you would change?

Honestly I don't think there's much I would change. I had bad races and poor weeks of training I even had the occasional injury, but all together everything worked out for the best.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Training alone was really difficult. It was so hard waking up early on weekends and summers to go run by myself.

What will you miss the most?

My teammates, Johnmark and Evan, and my coach, Steve Wellum.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Enjoy your time running!! I know it sounds cliche, but don't get too caught up in PR's and placing. Just do your best and enjoy running!

What are your college/career plans?

I plan to attend Taylor University and major in Social Studies Education and one day be a high school teacher.

Who would you like to thank?

I would like to thank my parents for supporting me through out all of my high school career both running and academically (and buying me running shoes!). I would also like to thank my sister, Hannah, for sitting at countless track and XC meets even though she was bored and sick of running! My friends were also very supporting and my teammates did all they could to cheer me on and help me train. I wouldn't have been able to accomplish near as much with out them. I also want to thank Coach Wellum. He was the best coach I could ever ask for and he took so much time out of his week to train me and give me workouts and ultimately leading me to be the strongest runner I could be. I can't thank him enough. Lastly I'd like to thank my God!
