Lolo Jones Headlines American Track League Meet in Bloomington  

IU track & field alums Derek Drouin, Molly Beckwith and Andy Bayer are set to compete in the meet.

 

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Olympian and two-time World Champion Lolo Jones will be part of the first stop of the American Track League series in Bloomington on Friday May 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Billy Hayes Track on the campus of Indiana University.

The American Track League meets are one of a kind and are designed for fan interaction and entertainment. Entertainment will be provided by The Velveteen Playboys and the American Track League Dance Team. Fans will be invited down on the track to the field events for an up close and intimate experience.

Olympic Bronze Medalist and IU alum Derek Drouin will compete in the high jump. Other former IU track & field athletes competing including 11-time All-American and NCAA Champion, Andy Bayer and 2010 NCAA runner-up in the 800m Molly Beckwith-Ludlow.

Admission to the meet is free and will also feature a 40-yard dash that is open to anyone. The top non-elite qualifier will get to run in the 100-meter dash against Olympians for a chance at a cash prize of up to $1,000.

Events being contested for the men will be: 100m, 400m, 1500m, 3000m steeplechase, high jump and pole vault. For the women the events will be: 400m, 800m, 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles.
