Catching Up with Michael Eaton

KYtrackXC.com: How is life treating you at Louisville?
ME: Life at Louisville had been great so far. I'm really fitting in well here.
The team is awesome and I've gotten to know Scott McClain and Matt Smith, my
fellow kentucky boys, quite well. I know I made the right decision coming to
Louisville.

KYtrackXC.com: Has your foot completely healed from the fall?
ME: My foot is a very touchy subject, lol. It was healed up just fine by the
end of CC season, and I've put in some awesome base training for indoor and
outdoor track, but unfortunatly about 2 weeks ago I hurt the same foot but
in a different way. The doctors think it's a strained ligiment, hurts to
run on, so I'm back to biking and I'm hoping it heals up fast so I can start
running again in time to have a good outdoor season. I was red-shirting
indoor season anyway.

KYtrackXC.com: How did it feel to run a 14:50 on the track a few weeks back?
ME: As for my 14:50 5k a few weeks back I have mixed emotions. It's a great
time and an awesome season openner for 5k, but definitly not what I wanted
to run, I was on pace for a 14:30 but fell off the pace for the last 1500m
or so.

KYtrackXC.com: What do you think about your teammate Wesley Korir this indoor, he is
running some amazing times 13:52 5K, 8:14 3K, 4:10 mile?
ME: Wesley is an awesome guy. He's hard working and determined and I was so
happy for him when he broke 14 minutes for 5k. The only problem now is that
I have to run all the harder if I wanna get that indoor 5k record before I
graduate, lol.

KYtrackXC.com: Are you ready for Outdoor to start?
ME: I'm definitely ready for outdoor to start. A tall guy like me wasn't made
for those little indoor tracks, I need bigger turns!

KYtrackXC.com: What are your goals for Outdoor?
ME: My goals for outdoor? I'd like to go low 14, try and break it if I can. My
focus for the season is to run a good enough time to get into Mt. Sac later
in the season and get to roll with the big dogs there and get a chance to
achieve that sub-14 5k.

KYtrackXC.com: What events do you think Coach Allen and Mann will have your focus on?
ME: Coach Mann, Coach Allen, and myself have talked about it and this season I
plan to focus on the 5k, I like that event, it's not too long, but not too
short. Personally I'd like to run a mile sometime just to see what I can do
now, since my senior year I got injured and didn't get a chance to run a
really fast mile.
