Carmel Participates in Trinity Invitational

Carmel competed in Saturday's 58th Annual Trinity Invitational at E. P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky.  This year's race featured three nationally ranked teams and the final results revealed the strength of these three teams.  Carmel was able to win over Brentwood TN 88-88 on the sixth man tie-breaker with St. Xavier of Ohio 3rd at 89.  Additional teams in Kentucky's oldest meet included St. Xavier KY (190), Hilliard Davidson (204), Mason (226), Trinity (255), Dublin Jerome (268), Centerville (283), Brentwood Academy (349), Daniel Boone (383), Cooper (385), Kings (445), Daviess County (458), Oak Ridge (529), Turpin (542), North Oldham (554), Beavercreek (577), Highlands (622), South Oldham (637), Pulaski County (702), Bowling Green (710), Colerain (728), Morristown-West (742), Butler (768), Central Magnet (801), Evansville North (809), Tates Creek (814), Father Ryan (851), Floyd Central (876), Lafayette (878), Bullitt East (884), Tell City (924), Oldham County (926), Villa Madonna (1037), Martha Layne Collins (1044), George Washington (1058), Independence (1070), Madisonville-North (1090), Christian Academy (1123), South Warren (1151), Thomas Nelson (1160), Conner (1184), Atherton (1188), George Rogers Clark (1237), Heritage Christian (1282), Christian Academy (1294), Sayre (1351), New Albany (1426), Holy Cross (1434), Bryan Station (1491) and Edmonson County (1558).  Individual winner was Brentwood's Alec Thomas with a time of 15:05.2.  Running for Carmel were Ben Veatch (7th in 15:25.0), Robert Browning (12th in 15:38.4), Ben Anderson (14th in 15:39.2), Michael George (22nd in 15:48.1), Josh Horowitz (39th in 16:00.4), Thomas Revard (45th in 16:03.7), Zac Leinheiser (54th in 16:12.6), Alex Cashbaugh (55th in 16:12.7), Kyle Hook (58th in 16:16.1) and Daniel Sechuga (59th in 16:18.4).
 
Carmel won the Reserve race with 25 points over 27 additional teams.  Individual winner was Carmel's Collin McMahon in 16:34.5.  Top Greyhounds included Zach Horowitz (2nd in 16:46.0), Andrew Kalthoff (5th in 16:50.8), Michael Lukovic (7th in 17:07.9) and Bryan Miller (10th in 17:15.3).
 
Carmel also won the Freshman race with 16 points over 6 additional teams.  Individual winner was Carmel's Conor Lyons in 17:06.2.  Top Carmel Freshmen included Drew Watson (2nd in 17:14.4), Jonah Nichol (3rd in 17:31.8), Kenji Tomozawa (4th in 17:38.0) and Austin Weaver (7th in 17:57.6).
 
The Greyhounds will next compete in the Culver Invitational next Saturday September 28, 2013.
