Valkyrie Invitational Girls Preview

TRINITY/VALKYRIE INVITATIONAL (HS)

Valkyrie Invitational: Top 100 Runners to Watch by Average Time

The Valkyrie Invitational does not quite have the team depth of the boys meet but it is still loaded.  The ladies of Carmel have won the meet last three years in a row and are in position to win again.   They will receive a challenge from Kentucky Class AAA #2 Bowling Green and #3 Sacred Heart along with Ohio #1 Mason and #2 Centerville.

The individual race has two runners who have PRs under 18 so this race should be fast, real fast.

Bailee Dean - Cane Ridge (TN)

She was 2nd at the always quick Brooks Twilight Classic with a PR of 18:11.  She has PRs of 5:09 and 10:35 on the track.

Gina Genco - Carmel (IN)

She has three races this season and all three are under 18:32.  She was 4th at Mason OH two weeks ago and 3rd last week with an 18:03.  She ran 11:17 for 3200m at the Indiana Track Regionals last spring.

Gabby Karas - Colllins (KY)

She has opened her season with two victories.  She has a best of 18:27 this season but was the Kentucky State XC Champion last year with a record time of 17:44.  She has best of 4:57 1600m and 10:58.50 for 3200m.

Whitney O'Bryan  - Daviess County (KY)

The veteran has one victory this season with an 18:33.  She then went to Mason OH going head to head with the Carmel girls finishing 6th with a 18:43.  She is ranked #1 in Class AAA this year with a best of 5:05 for the One Mile.

Samantha Simms - Sacred Heart (KY)

She was 5th last week in Indiana against the Carmel girls with an 18:26.  She has one victory from two weeks ago.  She is a 5:07 Miler with a 5K best of 18:18 on the track.

Emma Valle - Lafayette (KY)

She is new to the running scene and has come out of the blocks strong.  She was 3rd at the big KY opening race, Tiger Run and then exploded for 2nd last week at the Bluegrass Cross Country Invitational with an 18:06.  She is still a mystery, but her early season work as shown she is a threat.

Kelcy Welch - Carmel (IN)

She did not run Carmel's opening two meets instead starting last week with a 17:57 to win at Brown County last week.  She has PRs of 5:04 1600m and 10:42 for 3200m and was 4th at the Indiana State Track Meet in the 3200m.
