Senior Send-Off: Dvontre Coleman, Martha Layne Collins

Dvontre Coleman is a 2013 Martha Layne Collins graduate.  He will continue his running career at Thomas More College in the fall.

 

What was your most memorable race/event?  

 

-4x800 at henry county junior year, it was the beginning of my distance running career.

 

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years? 

 

-My teammates Justin, Nolan, Devon, and Ryan Hunter because they pushed me to hit goals and competed for team spots.

 

What was your greatest accomplishment? 

 

-Signing to run track in college

 

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

 

-Running for all 4 years and beginning as a distance runner

 

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

 

-Hitting times so that I could be fast enough to remain a member of our 4x4 relay

 

What will you miss the most?

 

-Ultimate work outs, stride races, the Cal runners, and the Red and Blue Bracelet Gang.

 

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

 

-Chose a event you love, some are harder than others but in the end if you love it the work is worth it.

 

What influence has your coaches had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

 

-My coach has taught me that anything is possible if you work for it, and sometimes you don't reach your goals immediately but with hard work and dedication you will reach it.  

 

What are your plans for college or joining the workforce next year?

 

-I will complete army basic training and run track at Thomas More College.

 

Who would you like to say thank you to?

 

-Coaches Drawbaugh, Belwood, and McDowell, Justin Downs and Nolan Petty. You guys have really helped me to grow as an athlete and as a person.

-To Conner, Alex, Austin, and Michael, I wish you the best in your futures and even though I ran for Collins Cal is clutch
