Senior Send-Off: Daniel Sims, Moore

Daniel Sims is a 2013 Moore High School graduate.

What was your most memorable race/event?  Either Mason Dixon Games this past year running the 1500m because it was the first state meet like race I ever ran, and because I beat the guy who beat me at regionals in xc to get the last spot in state. The other would be senior regional meet in xc because I finally proved to myself I was good enough to go to state.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years? I had several teammates who pushed me in my career such as Randy Hurst, Eric Simon, Dylan Fowler, Evan Riggs (Bullitt Central) Warren Kennedy, and Logan Sears at Moore.

What was your greatest accomplishment? Breaking Three individual,(1500m,1600m, and 3200m) and the Distance Meadly Relay school records at Moore. I also enjoyed beating Bullitt Central after I transfered.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school? I would of put more effort in my freshmen, and sophomore years, and I would have listened to my coaches more.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome? Starting running my freshmen year, and form. I worked really hard to correct my form and it finally started to somewhat come together at the end.

What will you miss the most? There are several things I will miss. I think the biggest one is being a leader/ being the workhorse.

What advice you would give to younger athletes? Hard work never fails. Remember Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

What influence has your coaches had with respect to your performance and overall life goals? Coach Tallent was always had a strategy which taught me to plan everything out, Coach Morton always a realistic which taught me to reach for what i want but do it in steps.

What are your plans for college or joining the workforce next year? I will be attending Bacone College in Oklahoma.

Who would you like to say thank you to? All my teammates, Coach Tallent,  Coach Klazac,  Coach Gose,  Coach Bizot, Coach Morton,Coach Dick, Coach Horton,Coach  Rob, and Coach I.
