Trinity Invitational Preview

If you happen to be in Louisville this weekend and want to see the best collection of talent assembled in one race, you have to go to E.P. Tom Sawyer Park for the Trinity Invitational. The top three teams in Boys AAA (Trinity #2 NTN Southeast, Woodford County, and Saint Xavier) Class A #1 St. Henry will come together for to see who the best in the state are, regardless of class. Add into the mix two teams ranked in the Nike Team Nationals Midwest Top 10, #3 Carmel (IN) and #5 LaSalle (OH). Combine these teams and you have one of the top races in the Ohio Valley region.
LaSalle is the returning team champion and has the highest returning runner from the race, Kyle Lang 15:56. The individual title is up for grabs with the champion from the last two years Michael Eaton now at the University of Louisville. Several Kentucky runners will showdown to see who the best, is including Nathan Liversedge (West Jessamine), Cullen Kuntz (Woodford County), Gordy Dooley (St. Henry), Justin Bowling (St. Xavier), and from the host school, Trinity Thomas Noel and Ethan Short. Other top runners from outside of the state include from LaSalle Jake Nusekabel and Corey Spriggs. Carmel (IN) has their top three Jacob Rich, Logan Rosenberg, and J.D. Smith. Nathan Tavenor from Hillard Davidson (OH) could come out on top at the race.
The key to this race should be which ever team can pack their frontrunners up. In a race of this caliber, is a team gets behind too far in the beginnings they are going to be in trouble. The weather is suppose to be in the 70s, very good for running. E.P. Tom Sawyer is moderately fast course, this is the right temperature could make for quick times Saturday.
Trinity Head Coach Chad Waggoner said about the meet this weekend "Three nationally ranked programs as well as the top ranked teams from the commonwealth is a real testament to all of our volunteers who make the meet not only the oldest in the commonwealth but the premier meet in the state. The course is very spectator friendly and deceitfully challenging to the runners."
