State Champion Sound-Off

Did you win a state championship this past weekend?  There were a lot of you out there and KYtrackXC.com was able to interview a few but could not get anywhere near them all.  Now this is your chance as KYtrackXC.com is doing a "State Champion Sound-Off."  Take the questions below, answer them, and email them to kytrackxc@gmail.com.

Dakota Westmoreland pulled off the Class A throws double winning both the Shot Put and the Discus.

Personal Bests

Discus153-6

Shot Put51-4.25

1) What event did you win?

DW: Shot-put and discus

2) What kind of strategy did you have going into your event?

DW: Just test the waters first throw and see what happens and getting a good night sleep after graduation and not staying for project grad.

3) If this was your first state championship, what kind of emotions and thoughts did you have immediately after winning?  If this was another state championship for you joining others, how does this one compare to the prior one?

DW: I mean it was the best feeling in the world and like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

4) Did you do anything different when it came to your training this season?

DW: I just worked longer and harder of form instead of throwing hard. Only took a couple hard throws a day and technique was the rest.

5) Besides winning state, what was another highlight of your season?

DW: Winning region in shot and disc and just watching the kids coming to follow my footsteps grow each day because I pushed them to make them better.
