Madison County teams shined at the 2013 KHSAA Super Regional at Wayne County’s Cave Lake Park, as Madison Central and Berea swept their divisions. The host Cardinals and Boyle County split titles in Class AA.

The Letcher County Central boys and the host Harlan County girls snagged team hardware at the Chuck Vitatoe Classic on Oct. 6, while a pair of Bell County runners claimed the individual titles and course records.
Bell County High School Cross-Country and track team stand-out James Brown, signed with the University of Kentucky cross country/track team Thursday. Brown has been a member of the varsity Cross-Country and Track teams at Bell County High School for seven years. In CrossCountry, he placed third in the state AA Championship meet in November 2011, and was named to the Kentucky Track and Cross-Country Coaches Association Super Team. James Brown is a junior at Bell County High School in southeastern Kentucky. He was the 2009 Kentucky Sophomore Runner of the Year in Cross Country and won the Sophomore Race at Foot Locker South. He is one of the early favorites to win the Class AA state title this season and talks about this season, last season, swimming, and dancing.
James Brown, sophomore at Bell County won the Sophomore Boys Race at Foot Locker South in North Carolina this morning. Unofficially he ran a best time of 15:50 to win over some of the best sophomore talent in the South as far west as Texas. Brown was the 2009 Kentucky Sophomore Runner of the Year and 1st Team Class AA All-State.
