Meet Information

Newport High School River City Classic Track & Field Meet

Date: Saturday, April 21, 2018

Time: 10:00 AM (Coaches meeting at 9:45 AM at the finish line)

Location: Newport Stadium behind Newport High School located at 900 East Sixth Street, Newport, KY 41071. Our facility is very close to the Ohio River and I-471s Big Mac Bridge. (Directions are below)

Cost: $90.00 per team. (Boys & Girls teams are 2 separate teams). Additional teams can participate for $40.00 per team as a B or C team. There is no fee for parking, but admission for adult spectators is $5/person; student admission is $3 (Under 6: admission is free). Concessions are available.

Entries: 2 athletes per team per event and 1 relay team per event. MAXIMUM of 4 events per athlete (including relays). B and/or C squads will be charged an additional team fees.

Entries will be handled on KY Milesplit.    Entry Deadline: Wednesday, April 18, 2018 @ 11:00 pm.

The meet will be limited to 12 Boys teams and 12 Girls teams. (not including any B or C teams from a School)

Scoring: 10-8-6-4-2-1.

Running Events: Regular order of events being hand-timed with all heats being finals: 4X800 M Relay, 100/110 M Hurdles, 100 M Dash, 4X200 M Relay, 1600 M Run, 4X100 M Relay, 400 M Dash, 300 M Hurdles, 800 M Run, 200 M Dash, 3200 M Run, 4X400 M Relay

Field Events: Will be finals-only format with 4 attempts. After the 10:00 start, subsequent events will be on a rolling schedule.

Directions to Newport Stadium:

If coming from the South through Grant, Boone or Kenton Counties, take I-71/75 across the Ohio River into Cincinnati, get in the RIGHT lane and follow the Columbus signs as you get across the river ONCE YOU CROSS the river, follow the signs for I-471 to return to KY via I-471 (the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge is also called the BigMac Bridgeyellow arches).

Directions from Eastern KY take the AA highway into Campbell County, go NORTH on US-27 and continue past Northern KY University onto I-471.

In a passenger vehicle, the best exit is EXIT 5: make a right onto Dave Cowens Drive, then right at Rivera Drive (Party Source is on Rivera Drive), right onto 6th and then ~make a U-turn into the schools driveway about 1000 meters up youll see the Athlete Complex on your right (park as close as you can).

If travelling by Bus, the best exit is Exit 4 off I-471 (Memorial Parkway/10th Street). At the end of the exit turn WEST (toward the setting sun.LOL) into Newport get in the right lane and turn RIGHT on Monroe Street, then RIGHT onto 6th Street and after a few blocks, the school will be on your right. Take the drive in front of the school on the right. about 1000 meters up on the right, youll see the Athlete Complex.

Park the bus under the highway.
