BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU track and field student-athletes Elvyonn Bailey and Sharika Smith were named athletes of the week by the Sun Belt Conference Wednesday night, with Bailey taking home Male Track Athlete of the Week honors while Smith won Female Field Athlete of the Week honors.

For the first time in Western Kentucky University history, the Lady Topper track and field team won the Sun Belt Conference indoor championship this weekend at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University. In leading the WKU women to their first-ever conference track title, head coach Dr.
Curtiss Long was honored as the Coach of the Year, his 26th such award in 26 years on the Hill.
