In 2010, East Jessamine cross-country runner Cody Parks finished 105th with a time of 18 minutes, 57.21 seconds at the state cross-country championships. His senior year in 2011, he finished 10th with a time of 17:10.45. His hard work from one November to the next launched him 95 spots and cut his time by more than 100 seconds. His hard work paid off in yet another way last Wednesday when he signed with Bellarmine University to run cross-country and track for the Knights. (via centralkynews.com)

LONDON - The Alice Lloyd College Eagles Cross Country program has announced the signing of one of the Mountains’ elite runners to an athletic letter of intent for the upcoming 2012-13 school year. ALC Director of Athletics and Cross Country Coach Gary D. Stepp traveled to London Tuesday and he happily returned with the fresh signature of North Laurel senior Greg Randolph. The 5000 Meter Run that is being held to open up the Harry Greschel Invitational this upcoming Friday night has been rebranded the KYtrackXC.com 5K Showdown. The girls race will start at 7:30 with the boys following at 8:00. Below are the line-up for these All-Star events:

When Lloyd track and field coach Greg Enxel says the sky is the limit for senior high jumper Tyler Bray, he's not kidding. 'We're pushing for a state record of 7 feet,' Enxel said. 'Tyler jumped 6-8 last year at state, and he knows he can go higher.' (via Cincinnati.com)

University of Louisville track and field student-athletes Amashi Kendall and Michelle Theophille completed their indoor seasons at the NCAA Indoor Championships by earning second team All-America honors late Friday evening at Jacksons Indoor Track in Nampa, Idaho, on the campus of Boise State University.

Samford senior Michael Seaman competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships Friday, placing sixth in the men's pole vault, clearing 17-8.5 (5.40m).
Collins senior Caterina Karas, Kentucky State Cross Country Record Holder and 2010 Class AA XC Champion has signed to run next year at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She held a signing ceremony on Tuesday, March 6th.

Samford pole vaulter Michael Seaman has qualified to the NCAA Championships for the third time in his career, as he will represent the Bulldogs in the men's pole vault at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend in Nampa, Id.

Friday Night was full of middle school and open competition with a unexpected reduction in numbers. Severe weather throughout the state of Kentucky forced many schools to dismiss early and left all athletics cancelled for the day. The games still went on.

University of Kentucky senior distance runner Luis Orta has had an exceptional indoor season. On Friday afternoon it became a historic one, as the Southeastern Conference named Orta the Men's Runner of the Year. It is the first time since the SEC began giving out the award in 2004 that a Wildcat has earned the honor. (via MileSplitU)
