Union County High School Junior Evan Crowdus, of Morganfield, Kentucky, walked a7:12.76 Friday to win the 1-Mile Racewalk Friday at the Nike Outdoor Nationals inGreensboro, North Carolina.
KYtrackXC.com just finished its third season covering Kentucky high school track and field, which brings the 3rd Annual KYtrackXC.com Outdoor Awards. As with previous years, the awards will be presented in the categories of Sprinter of the Year, Distance Runner of the Year, and Field Event Athlete of the Year. These awards are regardless of school classification. Congratulations to all the athletes who participated in track and field this year.
The 3rd Annual Awards will include boys and girls Sprinter of the Year, Distance Runner of the Year, and Field Event Athlete of the Year. These are regardless of class. The 1st Annual All-Outdoor Team will also be released on Friday. There will be two individuals for each of the individual events and relays.
Laken Dirkes is a senior at Marshall County High School. She won her second 100m Hurdles title in a row Saturday at the Class AAA State Track Meet. She was also runner-up in the Long Jump.
Interview with duPont Manual teammates Mary Grace Pellegrini and Jennifer Nwachukwu. Pellegrini won the 1600m and 3200m Class AAA titles. Nwachukwu was fourth in the 400m Dash.
Interview with Mercer County's Chrys Jones. Chrys broke the Overall State Record in the Triple Jump with a leap of 50-02 on Friday. He broke the Class AA State Long Jump record on Saturday. He will be competing for Centre College next year.
Nathan Liversedge is a senior at West Jessamine High School. He was a member of the Class AA State 3200 Relay winning team and won two individual titles in the 1600 and 3200. He will be competing for the US Naval Academy next year.
Chinwe Okoro is a senior at Russell High School. She won Class AA State Titles in the Shot Put and Discus. She had the best throws in the state regardless of class. She will compete for the University of Louisville next year.
DeAudea is a sophomore at Paducah Tilghman. She helped lead the Lady Tornado to their seventh straight Class AA State Team Title with individual wins in the 200m and 400m Dashes.
Video Interview with Fulton County junior Sharika Smith. She won four state titles over the weekend in the 100m, 200m, Long Jump, and Triple Jump. She also broke her own Overall State Record in the Triple Jump with a leap of 39-03 and beat the Class A 200m Dash record with a time 24.82.
Interview with Troy Cooper after the Class A State Track Meet on Saturday at Paul Dunbar High School. He won two state titles in the Shot Put and Discus. He had personal best throws of 58-05.50 in the Shot Put and 166-03 in the Discus. Cooper will be competing for the University of Cincinnati next year.
Mercer County senior Chrys Jones triple jumps 50-02 to break the Overall State Record. Paducah Tilghman boys and Russell girls are in the lead after Day One of the Class AA State Track Meet.
Bishop Brossart has a commanding 48-22 lead over Frankfort after Day One's action at the Boys Class A State Meet. Bardstown senior Michael Seaman broke the Class A Pole Vault record of 14-06 with a vault of 14-07. St. Henry and Bishop Brossart are at the top of the leader board in girls action.

Jon is a senior at duPont Manual and will be running for Vassar College next year. He is one of the top contenders in the Class AAA 800m Run and will be running in the 3200 relay.
