7th Annual KYtrackXC.com Indoor Girls Athletes of the Year

KYtrackXC.com is pleased to present the 7th Annual KYtrackXC.com Indoor Athletes of the Year based on the 2012 Indoor Track Season.  These awards provide us with a first on the girls side with a whole relay team, a continued winning streak, and a school that continues its domination of an award.

Girls Sprinter - Alisha Adair (Western Hills)

The junior pulls off the third win in the Girls Sprinter of the Year category as she continued her domination of Kentucky indoor track by winning two events at the Wildcat Classic in January and running the fastest at the nationally renowned UK High School Invitational.  At the Wildcat Classic she won the 60m Dash with a 7.77 and the 200m Dash with a 25.67 which broke the record of 2009 KYtrackXC.com Indoor Sprinter of the Year Tiffany Rogers (Butler.)  Then at the UK High School Invitational she rocked a 7.71 for the 60m Dash which became the fastest time run by a Kentucky sprinter on record at KYtrackXC.com.

Girls Distance - Assumption 4x1 Mile Relay (Emily Bean, Katherine Receveur, Caroline McCaslin, and Bailey Davis)

This foursome of three sophomores and one senior ran their way to All-American status as they finished third overall at New Balance Nationals in March with a smoking time of 20:54.90.  The group averaged 5:13.72 per mile with splits of Katherine Receveur 5:05.20, Bailey Davis 5:12.50, Caroline McCaslin 5:15.90, and Emily Bean 5:21.3.  The most impressive part of their finish and time is that the girls had already run a race at New Balance as all of them ran in the 3200m Relay the day before in the process running the #1 and #2 All-time Kentucky 3200m Relay times for Indoor with a 9:27 and 9:40.  All four of the ladies split between 2:19 and 2:23 in the 3200m Relays.

Girls Field Event - Michaela Hunter (Rockcastle County)

This junior continues the trend for Rockcastle County as she becomes the third girl from the school to earn this award a combined total of five of the seven years.  She put on a clinic in point scoring at the Class AA Mason-Dixon Games meet in March as she won the Long Jump, Triple Jump, and High Jump.  She for kicks she threw in a runner-up finish in the 60m Dash.  Her jump of 17-08.50 in the Long Jump ranks her third in Kentucky over the last fifteen years.  Her winning jump of 36-07 also sits as third over the last fifteen years which was good enough to break the Class AA Mason-Dixon Games record.  The most interesting of the wins came in the High Jump as this is not one of her typical events, either way she won with a not too shabby mark of 5-02.
