Buddy Price Named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

Bowling Green, Ky. - Recent Western Kentucky University graduate Buddy Price has been named to the Capitol One Academic All-District Men's Track/Cross Country Team, it was announced Thursday.  The 2012 teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Price graduated Summa Cum Laude this month with a bachelor of science degree in geology, where he had a cummulative grade point average of 3.93.

In his senior track and field season, Price earned all-Sun Belt Conference honors in the weight throw at the league indoor championship, where he placed third.  At the league outdoor meet, he placed fourth in the hammer throw.  Price leaves the Hill with two career all-SBC accolades, ranks second on the WKU all-time hammer throw list, and third on the all-time weight throw list.

A graduate of Cumberland County High School, the Dubre, Ky., native is currently interning with the US Geological Survey (USGS) in Vermont.  Teaming with the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT), the Cooperative Summer Field Training Program is the longest continuously running internship program in the earth sciences.  Price will begin graduate school this fall at  Oklahoma State University, where he will also be serving as a graduate research assistant.
