Collins senior Caterina Karas, Kentucky State Cross Country Record Holder and 2010 Class AA XC Champion has signed to run next year at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She held a signing ceremony on Tuesday, March 6th.
Her record breaking performance came at the 2010 Kentucky Cross Country Meet when rival Jenna Rogers and Karas were suppose to battle for the #1 spot in Class AA. But Karas blitzed the field to win with a still standing record time of 18:11.92.
Karas was the AAU National Champion for the High School Division this past December in Florida running a new best time of 17:54 in the process. She finished up her junior year with two titles becoming the Class AA State Champ in the 1600m and 3200m She ran winning times of 5:17 and 11:26 at the 2011 Kentucky State Track Meet.
