Assumption 18th at Nike Cross Nationals

Class AAA State Champions Assumption finishes their amazing year with an 18th place finish at Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon today.  The Portland Meadows course is not your typical run with rolling hills and hay bales to jump during the race and the course was extremely muddy as well.

The ladies were led by Katherine Receveur’s 112th place finish with a 19:30.  Emily Bean was second for the team in 124th place with a 19:40.  The top five was rounded out by Bailey Davis in 136th, Carline McCaslin in 141st, and Kenzley Defler in 144th.    Kate Crawford and Amanda Vokoun were 175th and 189th out of 196 girls.  There were twenty-two teams competing.

Assumption qualified for the National Championship with a second place finish at the Nike Cross Southeast Regional last week in North Carolina.  They are the first girl’s school and only the second team ever from Kentucky to qualify for Nike Cross Nationals in Oregon since its inception in 2005.  St. Xavier’s boys qualified in the first year of the event.
