KYtrackXC.com has been covering Cross Country since 2005 and I figured why not take some time to do a flashback to that year. The first set of rankings from 2005 came out on September 7th. Below are the AAA Rankings from that day.
duPont Manual opened up the season that year with a victory at Tiger Run over Scott. The same was true about the individual match-up at Tiger Run with Manual’s Mary Grace Pellegrini winning with a 19:13 over Scott’s Kortni Dukes with a 19:22. Paul Dunbar’s Laura Steinmetz started the year at #4 and finished as the Class AAA State Champions in November. The ladies of Paul Dunbar won the team title as well that year, but started the year at #5. Five of the teams that were ranked that week are currently ranked in the KYtrackXC.com Class AAA Top 10.
St. Xavier was clearly the best boys team that early as they went 1-3 at Tiger Run with senior Scott McClain crossing the line first with Thomas Davis and Brian Long right behind him. Individually though the St. Xavier trio came in at 3-5 with Michael Eaton (Greenwood) opening at #1 after winning by 56 seconds at the Daviess County Classic on the same day as Tiger Run. Defending Class AA Champion Daniel Murner (South Oldham) and his teammates were realigned that year to Class AAA. He opened up the year at #2. St. Xavier won the AAA title that year over Trinity and went onto run in Nike Team Nationals in Oregon. Five teams that were ranked that week are currently ranked in the KYtrackXC.com Class AAA Top 10.
